1 (18.25oz) package chocolate cake mix, make
according to package directions

1 cup chopped pecans, divided
1 cup shredded coconut, divided
1 cup sweetened condensed milk
3 tbsp butter
1 tsp vanilla extract


1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Place cake batter in a large bowl and add 1/2 cup of
the pecans and 1/2 cup of the coconut; mix well.

2. Pour into a 9 by 13 inch baking pan that has been
coated with nonstick baking spray and floured.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until a wooden toothpick
inserted in center comes out clean.

3. In a small saucepan combine the sweetened condensed
milk, butter and vanilla over medium heat.
Cook about 5 minutes until thickened, stirring constantly.

4. Stir in the remaining 1/2 cup pecans and 1/2 cup coconut.
Spread over the warm cake and allow cake to cool completely
before cutting into squares.
